How consumer-friendly are the Terms of Service you agree to?

We catalog the Terms of Service of major companies and grade them on the clauses that affect you: forced arbitration, data sharing, content licensing, account termination, surprise changes, and more.

Every rating cites the exact clauses that drove it. We track ratings over time using Internet Archive snapshots, so you can see how companies' terms have evolved.

How a rating gets made

  1. Snapshot. We fetch the company's current ToS and historical versions from the Internet Archive.
  2. Evaluate. An LLM reads each version and scores it against a published rubric of consumer-impact criteria.
  3. Cite. Each finding includes the rubric criterion, the rationale, and a short verbatim excerpt of the offending clause (kept under fair-use limits).
